Anne Wiebe

Born: November 30, 1932
Died: February 28, 2012

Anne Wiebe was born in Horndean on Nov. 30, 1932 to Frank and Mary Blatz. The family moved to a farm near Kane. Anne loved going to school. She hated snow days as she would not be able to see her friends. Her love of school turned passionate when Art Wiebe began attending. This love that began at 16 years of age lasted through 54 years of wonderful married life. Anne’s schooling continued with a year at Elim Bible School in Altona and a year of University in Winnipeg. She was a life long learner with earnest study of the Bible, reading biographies and articles concerning geography, travel or history.

Anne and Art’s early years of marriage were spent in Neuhorst and Blumenort. It was not long before they had 4 awesome children! (: Art had once stated “without the determined nature of my wife our family would not have moved to the north”. From1964 –1968 the family spent 4 adventuresome years in the Inuit villages of Aklavik and Tuktoyuktuk.

From beginning to end Anne’s life was filled with the joys of hospitality. She loved spontaneous visits . . . the bigger the crowd the better! Once her children were school aged she exercised her gifts as a supervisor at Kindale Occupational Center for over 15 years. Anne and Art’s retirement was spent traveling doing volunteer work and visiting family and friends.

Mom has encouraged us with her prayers throughout the years. A recent one went like this “Father thank you for your presence with us, for salvation through your Son and for your word, may I study it and live for you”

With courage Anne adjusted to her widowed life and made many new wonderful friends at Fernwood Place; her old friends remained true blue. Anne passed away at Bethesda Hospital the morning of Feb. 28, 2012.

Anne is survived by three daughters and one son. From Kemptville, ON, Gwen (Phil Castle, children Garry (Shannon), Melissa (Graham), Rob(Jody)). From Vanderhoof, B.C.
